Hi, family.  Carlos and I are busy preparing for our trip to Venezuela from July 14 to the 26th.  It has been five years since he has been home, seven for me.  Toño and his family will be there from Spain also and we are so excited about seeing everyone.  We will be traveling from Miami to Maiquetía (near Caracas), where we will change planes and continue to Valera.  We expect to be in that area, where we lived for 12 years, for several days before continuing to Las Virtudes where Carlos' sister Alba lives, and Mérida where Carlos' oldest brother and his family are based, and where we will see Carlos' newest great-niece.  The return will be by the same route unless we make a change to leave from Mérida.  We arrive late in Miami, so will not get home until the 27th.

My other big news is that 100% of my students passed their International Baccalaureate Spanish exams!  I received the news Monday.  It seems that even the ones who made me pull my hair out learned quite a bit.  I'm very proud of the strong effort they made.  Carlos says this means I can't complain about what students aren't learning anymore.  O.K.

Hope you are all well.  We always look forward to hearing from you.

Love,   Iris
